At the Deming Luna Mimbres Museum, history comes alive through an extensive and eclectic collection of exhibits that reflect the lives, traditions, and transformations of the Deming and Mimbres Valley region. From pioneer days to wartime service, from Indigenous pottery to ranching heritage, our exhibits span paintings, period rooms, antique tools and toys, clothing, vehicles, war memorabilia, photographs, Native American artifacts, gems, geodes, and an exceptional collection of Mimbres pottery. Explore our indoor galleries and step outside to experience larger-than-life displays like our interactive tank, giant anti-aircraft gun, and memorial stadium—perfect for family outings, picnics, and sightseeing.

Deming Schools Exhibit
Step into the school days of generations past. This exhibit captures the history of education and childhood in Deming, featuring vintage classroom items, yearbooks, and photos that tell the story of local students through time.
Military Room
Trace New Mexico’s military history from Fort Cummings in 1863 through World Wars I and II, showcasing artifacts that honor the service and sacrifice of our armed forces.
Transportation Annex
Discover how Deming moved through the ages—from historic vehicles to railroad artifacts. This space also serves as a community meeting area and includes items that trace Deming’s role in the development of Southwest transportation.
Tack Room
Every ranch had one, and ours is no different. The Tack Room showcases the equipment, tools, and stories of ranch life—offering insight into the daily routines and resilience of our agricultural roots.
Mimbres Pottery Collection
One of the museum’s most celebrated collections, the Mimbres pottery exhibit includes remarkable pieces donated by local collectors. Each piece reflects the intricate designs and cultural significance of the Mimbres people.
Medical Room
See how medicine evolved in our region. This exhibit houses vintage medical and dental equipment, much of it used by early Deming doctors and dentists. It’s a fascinating look into the tools and techniques of past healthcare.
Hispanic Heritage
Highlighting the contributions of our Hispanic community, this exhibit includes textiles, traditional garments, and cultural artifacts— like a large embroidered and fringed scarf in the style of early settlers.
Geode Kids & Gem & Mineral Collections
Created to delight and educate visitors of all ages, the Geode Kids exhibit and Gem & Mineral Room include dazzling natural specimens, lovingly displayed and maintained by local experts. Perfect for rockhounds and curious young minds alike.
Jail House
Step inside the original jail cell from Deming’s historic three-story jailhouse. It offers a stark and fascinating glimpse into local law enforcement history.
Diamond A Chuckwagon
Built in Deming around 1900, this authentic chuckwagon tells the story of trail cooks and cowboy cuisine that kept the West running.
Western Area
Dedicated to the late 19th-century American West, this section captures the grit, gear, and glory of frontier life.
Old Timers Room
Sponsored by the Old Timer’s Association, this room is filled with treasured keepsakes and personal histories that celebrate Deming’s earliest families and community leaders.
Mimbres Indians Pottery Room
Experience one of the best and most diverse Mimbres pottery collections in the region, featuring stunning geometric and figurative designs that offer insight into the daily life, beliefs, and artistry of the Mimbres people.
